Heya!

So I am back already but I just couldn't resist doing a post about this! However in the future I am hoping to do a post once a week! So, encase you hadn't already realised from the title this post is going to be about London Fashion Weekend! I hope to do a post on my thoughts on London fashion week too, however I experienced London Fashion Weekend first hand and I am still buzzing from it so I couldn't resist!

Encase you weren't aware London Fashion weekend is just after London fashion week it starts on the Thursday and finishes on the Sunday (24-27th). London Fashion Weekend unlike London Fashion Week is open to the public to attended however there is a cost involved! I went to London fashion Week last year to stand out side and get a glimpse into the environment as I wasn't able to afford tickets last year! This year I also wasn't intending on going although I really wanted, however I was extremely lucky and I was given tickets by the House Of Holland brand. I entered a competition on Instagram and re-posted the image to enter. I was lucky enough to be chosen as a winner! I received two tickets which gave me access to London fashion weekend inside, a free designer tote bag and access to one of the catwalk shows. I was over the moon to say the least!

I received my tickets on the Friday night and included was a signed message from Henry Holland which made it extra special. I went up to London Fashion Weekend on the Saturday. We decided to make a day of it as it was in London. Fashion weekend was being held at the Saatchi gallery this year on Kings road. We spent the morning browsing the shops on Kings Road and in Chelsea. If you like 'posh' shops I would definitely recommend it! Shopping there was a great experience alone! I also happened to bump into Caspar Lee in Zara which was nice! Anyway! We then entered the Saatchi gallery and London fashion weekend. We collected our Tote Bags which were designed by Mary Katrantzou and inside were lots of little goodies, such as magazines, hairspray, makeup wipes, and I even got some lipstick! Which I was particularly pleased about! I then had a browse around the exclusive stalls and had a look at the designer clothing! It was amazing; everywhere you looked there was designer items, from Moshino to Balmain it was everywhere. Also it was at a very reasonable price. I brought some Vivienne Westwood earrings! YAY!

I then went in to a talk which was led by Daisy Lowe and Henry Holland. It was actually very inspiring! Daisy Lowe was interviewing Henry Holland. Henry talked about his journey in the fashion industry and how he started of in fashion journalism and how he ended up where he was today. He also talked about what inspired him, including films such as Clueless and even his passion for costume. There was then a time for the audience to interact and ask questions to him which I felt was very refreshing to be able to have a one to one talk with the designer whilst he was sharing his experiences with an audience of keen fashion lovers.

Shortly after this I went to watch the designer catwalk show. Which was showcasing the House of Holland collection and was of course was amazing! It involved a lot of prints, including dog tooth. Fur was a fabric which was frequently used for the coats in the collection. The colors mainly used were pinks, reds, yellow and blues. I particularity like the pink and red combinations as often they are colors which clash with each other, but the tones went together perfectly. I also got second row for the show so had a great view. The show featured music by Drake which gave it an up beat and fresh vibe. It also complimented the daring and slightly edgy fashion.

Overall I had an amazing experience at London Fashion Weekend. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is a keen fashion lover. Not only was the experience inside the event great but also the atmosphere in the area was buzzing with creative passion which I found really inspiring. Also to witness some people's daring and bold fashion statements was an experience in its self! I am so thank full that I had the opportunity to attend.

I hope that you have enjoyed reading a little bit about what I've been up to and what I've been excited about recently. Hopefully I'll be back soon with another post! Thank you!!

Heya!

So I'm back for my first 'proper' blog post. I decided to do my blog post on New York Fashion week. Although it is over I felt like this would be a good time to write about it as I can look back at everything that happened and the things which I loved! Also I was particularity inspired by New York Fashion week this year. Typically I would normally look at London Fashion Week more as London is my go to fashion city especially because of where I live. However this year I have really been taken in by the looks at New York fashion week. And once again it was on snap chat this year so you couldn't miss it! Even if you don't normally follow fashion weeks religiously,

There was so many big names at New York fashion week this year, including; DVF, Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Anna Sui, Michael Kors, Oscar De La Renta, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria Beckham, Rebecca Minkoff, Givenchy, Jason Wu and many more! They were all showcasing there SS16 catwalk collections. I was actually really impressed by how many of the looks I liked! I felt like this year New York Fashion Week personally felt fresher and more exciting than ever. There were some looks in-particular however which I REALLY loved! Here are my two designer shows which I personally loved and would recommend taking a look at.

Firstly JEREMY SCOTT! His show was definitely one of my favorites from New York Fashion week, and he is slowly becoming one of my favorite designers too! I actually hadn't really been that focused or aware of Jeremy Scott's designs until the barbie range he did for Moshino which I loved! It was so unique, it offered a girly style but in a quirky way. I also became more aware of him when Miley Cyrus did a collaboration with him for his accessories for his show. It was then I started looking at his work and so when his show for New York fashion week was released I was actually quite excited and I was even more enthusiastic about it when I watched the show online I loved it! every time I am blown away by his originally. The thing that I love most about his work is he has fun with fashion! I personally feel he takes fashion back to people's real love and creative excitement for fashion when sometimes the industry can be taken so seriously.(wow i really need to learn to get to the point) Anyway, Jeremy Scott's show was one of my favorite shows at New York Fashion Week but not just because of the reasons above.

His show was inspired by John waters and 1960's nostalgia. The models had statement hair. They wore big beehive looks and this was something which I immediately loved! Big hair is back! As many people who watched the show said. The hair instantly grabbed your attention but it didn't take away the attention from the clothes! Once again Jeremy Scott's collection was very bold, colorful, vibrant and involved a lot of prints, I think this is partly the reason why I loved his show so much because at the moment I am really into bold colors and prints used on garments. Every piece was unique and fun! which is something which I also really loved! I also loved the color scheme it involved neon colors but it wasn't overwhelming which I feel can be such a hard concept to grasp and create but Jeremy did it perfectly in this collection. Also the color scheme worked perfectly with the 60's vibe. The whole range brought across a type of attitude which I felt was really inspiring. If you want to check out Jeremy's SS16 collection and find out more about here is a link which I feel looks and sums it up perfectly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFdlR_ejtpw

Okay secondly another designer who I also thought stole the show at New York Fashion Week had to be DIANE VON FURSTENBURG! Diane is the designer who is famous for the wrap dress! However I hadn't properly explored her brand until her show 'House Of DVF' This was a show which is shown on E! where people who want to make it in the fashion industry compete to win the title of DVF brand ambassador. Shortly after discovering this show around a year ago it became my favorite show and I became more and more interested in the DVF brand. The new series hadn't started at the time of New York Fashion Week and I hadn't seen much of the DVF brand for a while. But the show at New York blew me away.

The show was one of the main highlights arguably at New York Fashion week. Everyone was talking about it. For many reasons. Firstly the catwalk was lined with super models, including Kendal Jenner, Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Bella and Gigi Hadid etc. Secondly the brand was already very well known but after the launch of there new show it now appealed and reached younger target markets as well as there original target market. To be very honest I haven't always liked all of the DVF items however this new collection I was completely stunned by. The collection gave of a relaxed feel but with statement pices. DVF boasted the amazing prints which the brand is well known for and used silks in a lot of the pieces which made the brand look even more luxury. The music featured Nicki Minaj and gave a fresh new feel for the brand which I felt made it really exciting. The colors very exciting and colorful yet still kept the sophisticated look of the brand. The overall feel I personally felt came across was perfect for summer it felt tropical and generally the whole ora of the show felt exciting. The hair on each model was the same style a relaxed curls which were accessorized with flowers which completed the summer vibe. The 'independent women' image of the brand was carried through perfectly. To sum up I felt the show added a new and up to date exciting feel to the brand but kept the sophisticated elegance and luxury style of the brand whilst bringing in a modern and new vibe. The show made me feel empowered and the collection left me in ore. If you want to watch the full SS16 DVF catwalk show I have put the link here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtY6B0mZXJk

To be honest I could go on forever about both shows and there are many more I could also talk about however I just wanted to give an overview and a summary of my thoughts and share my inspiration from the Fashion Week in New York. I hope to also share with you in another post my thoughts on London Fashion Week. I hope you enjoyed having a little read of this post! I would love to here your comments as I'm new to blogging I'd love to here your opinions and what you think of my blog and posts!

Heya!

So basically I've been meaning to start a blog for a while and I've finally got round to it with a little help from my friend helping me set one up! I decided before I do a 'proper' post I would kind of do an 'introduction'/ get to know me kind of thing! So here goes (also please bare with me as i'm kind of getting used to this whole thing)

So firstly my name is Jodie, incase you hadn't already realised. Haha anyway I'm currently at college I'm 17 years old woo! kind of an annoying age to be honest; too old for cheap train tickets but too young to go out! (if you hadn't already realised I kind of get distracted easily). Anyway I'm studying Fashion retail, English Language and Art and Design Textiles at the moment. I love all my subjects very much! I've made this blog to hopefully share things I'm inspired by with everyone but also to write more and share more about my love for fashion!
I would like to think of myself as a quirky person. Haha. I'd say I'm quite confident I love having a laugh and being happy.

Sorry its kind of been a short and random post but wanted to introduce myself first so you can all get to know me a bit! I'd love to hear from anyone who gets a chance to read my blog so feel free to leave comments whenever you like!

Thanks! Jodie x
