Heya,

I am back once again with an outfit post. It’s the half term and things are looking a bit more summery so I thought I’d share with you one of my summer essentials.

This is of course a denim Jacket. Now denim Jackets have been around for a very long time and that's why they are such an essential. They never go out of fashion and every Summer you can pretty much guarantee they will be on trend so they are worth investing in.

Now I actually have a couple of denim Jackets but my go to for the summer is my light blue Levi jacket. This was actually one of my vintage purchases so is not a typical denim jacket which you would find in  a high street shop. I personally love this jacket as its super casual which I think works well as a summer jacket. Because of its style to its also very comfy as it is not fitted as such and even works well for layering garments underneath.

The light colour of the jacket is also one of the reasons I love it for the summer as I feel that its more of a cheerful and light colour and tends to go more with the clothes I wear in the summer, whereas my dark blue denim jacket suits the darker tonnes I would be more likely to wear in winter months. This is a personal choice but I do tend to wear more light blue denim in the summer and I also feel it tends to complement tanned skin also.

In the images I have actually put a couple examples of me wearing my light blue Levi denim jacket. I love this jacket as I feel you can literally change the style of it depending on what you put it with and it will still look good and work with a whole variety of styles. This is something I am particularly keen on as I tend like a lot of styles and don't have a particular 'image' as such.

In this example I actually went for a day out in London to Brick lane. It was a very hot day so wanted a light and comfortable jacket but also wanted to look stylish and have a jacket which would mean I wasn't too cold when walking around.

I paired my denim jacket with a bold pink tee and black cigarette trousers. Whats great about a denim jacket is it pretty much matches any colour so you don't have to worry about what you are wearing underneath it.

I also chose to accessory my jacket slightly with a vintage elephant brooch which I had in order to match my bag and create a slightly more vintage vibe as brick lane is famous for that style.

My particular jacket has lots of pockets which is another thing which most denim jackets tend to have. This is particularly handy as I was able to keep things like my train tickets in a pocket whilst still being able to walk around with my hand in other pockets.

To add to this my jacket has button fastenings. This is the most common features on denim jackets however you can get denim jackets with zips. I personally prefer the style of buttons on denim jackets and think that zips are more suitable for leather jackets. However if you are someone who likes to have your jacket always done up this might be something you want to think about.

I paired my outfit with one of my all time favourite bags. This was my skinny dip rocket clutch bag. Now firstly this bag is of course amazing. It shines, lights up and just purely looks fab. But it also has a chain which makes it way more practical. As well as this inside it has a zip pocket so is very useful. This bag can literally completely change a look though and make it look that little bit more exciting and special and paired with a plain denim jacket it can work really well.

I hope you have enjoyed today's post. Exam season is of course just around the corner so If you are taking exams I wish you all the best. I will be back next week with a new post and of course if there is anything you would like me to post about do let me know and also feel free to leave a comment. Thank you so much for reading. I have left the link to my twitter below if you want to keep updated, unfortunately I couldn't find the links the things which I have talked about in this post. I'll see you next week, thanks!        Jodie x
Hey guys!

I hope you are all doing well. So my blog post on my favourite looks at the Met Gala went down very well and I thought well why not do a similar one. So today's post is going to be about my favourite looks from the Cannes film festival. Now I must admit I do always prefer the met gala looks opposed to Cannes film festival but never the less there were still some stunning looks.

Cannes film festival has a very unique style. It is well known for its sexy and elegant red carpet looks.  The film festival this year ran from the 11th of may until the 22nd of may (which was yesterday) so I thought it really was the perfect time to post about my favorites.

Now even though I said I preferred the met gala oh my gosh it was sooo hard to choose which were my favourite there were still so many amazing looks. Anyway, I have narrowed it down to seven. I am going to talk about each look very briefly as the pictures will do the explaining and if I wrote about everything I liked about each look this blog post would end up more like a book haha.

So the first look which I really loved was Kendall Jenner's look from May the 16th. Now Its not surprising one of her looks was my favourites as she attended pretty much every event at Cannes (well at least that what it seems when you look through all the pictures). Now I'm not going to lie I do love to watch keeping up with the kardashains but I don't always love the looks they choose. However I really loved the look Kendall went for on this occasion. It almost had a vintage feel to it yet still looked very current and undoubtedly glamorous. The feathered embellishments were perfect form the film festival style and the pony tail hair do made the look really effortless which also gave it a more elegant vibe.

Moving on the next person some of you may or may not know (which doesn't really matter anyway) was Poppy Delevingne. This was actually at the same event as the look I loved from Kendall. Again this look was so glamorous yet look so effortless. I am really love the metallic sheen to the dress and it is something which is very on trend at the moment. I am not normally a fan of "strappy" dresses also but on this occasion I think it gives it a subtle feminine touch. This dress was a Roberto Cavalli and was accessorized with a Swarovski clutch.

Now again someone who had a number of amazing looks across the Cannes film festival was Chanel Iman. (who you also may or may not know) I loved this look because I think it combines the Cannes film festival style perfectly with modern style. The slit in the dress is a very common catwalk trend which I am not always keen on but I think with this outfit It added the perfect combination of sexy to blend with the elegance. The dress also complimented Chanel's style really well and put emphasis on her slim and tall figure. The metal detailing around the neck of the dress also worked well as an accessory to the overall look.

Blake Lively also shone at this years Cannes film festival. In fact so much so that I chose two of her looks as part of my favourites. Blake looked glowing at all of the events but this velvet golden mustard ensemble  really was special. Such a simple look  but truly stunning.

Next up is a look I am sure most of you will have seen. It is of course Katy Perry. Now this look has been talked about A LOT about how she looked like the female dancing emoji. Now weather that is a good or a bad thing (i'm not actually sure) I loved the look regardless. So it may not be to everyone's taste but firstly the shape of the dress was perfect it hugged her figure perfectly yet the ruffles gave the outfit a whole new vibe and added to the excitement. The combination of the red colour and the rose petals gave a really sexy, strong and bold look. Katy literally looks like she could take on the world in this picture and quite frankly I love it.

Now for a completely different style. This look came from Toni Garrn. She opted for a shorter style dress. Something which isn't often done at Cannes however I think she totally pulled it off. The detailing and embellishments on her dress screamed luxury and altogether it created a really sophisticated look.

Last but definitely no means least is Blake lively again. This look honestly made headlines, is Blake Lively the real life Cinderella? So roches and ruffles may not be your thing but does this not just bring you back to your younger self and make you want to be a princess? I just think the whole look is stunning. The detailing on the front of the dress is so subtle yet so sophisticated and the design of the dress is like nothing else seen at this years Cannes film festival and it was definitely a look that stole the show.

There were some wonderful looks and I've only shared some of my favourites but if you are interested to look at even more I will leave a link below to one of the Vogue Galleries from the festival.

I hope you enjoyed having a read! Thank you so much!

Heya!

It’s me again! So recently I took a trip to London with my friends and of course whilst we were there we visited the Oxford Street Topshop. Now let me just say if you haven’t been there before then you are missing out! For those of you who have been you will know just how big and wonderful it is.

Now I don’t only love the Oxford Street Topshop for its size but it also has everything that is new. Because it is so big it is also able to have areas focusing on different trends and themes which I think is amazing. So today’s post is going to be about one the trends which I absolutely fell in love with whilst in the Oxford Street Topshop!

In today’s post I will be writing all about Shimmery pinks! Now before I start if you like this style of post and you want to find out some of the other things which I loved in the Oxford Street Topshop do let me know and I might a few more posts focusing on some of the other things which I loved there.

Anyway let’s actually get started about Shimmery pinks! Okay so this may sound a bit strange but once you get to the pictures hopefully what I am talking about will make a bit more sense!

So this was one of the first Pink Shimmery items I spotted. I genuinely fell in love with this dress though. I wouldn't normally go for this shape of dress because it is something which can be quite unflattering depending on your body shape. However the focus is purely on the shimmery pink in this garment.
I really loved the shimmer that this dress had, as soon as I saw the dress it felt all magical and reminded me of a princess. I think that the light pink colour complimented this really well as it is a really feminine colour and it made sure the shimmer wasn't tacky and instead was super elegant and gave of a luxurious look.

Although this isn't a shape of dress I would normally choose with the shimmery pink the fabric draped really well which gave it a flowy and polished look which once again gave of expensive vibes. Also the matching strap belt meant the dress could be given more shape depending on your preference.

This particular dress was located in the Topshop Boutique section in Oxford Street which I also think added to the special feel the garment created.

This next Pink Shimmery Item was also a dress. This time there were more shaped features within the dress. Firstly there were large straps which I personally find a lot more comfortable to wear. Secondly the top half of the dress had darts inserted in the bust line which meant the top half would be slightly more fitted which I think creates a more feminine look once again.

The waistline was very slightly gathered which also creates subtle shape at the waist. This was followed down by accordion pleats. These are a very narrow type of pleat which are often found on midi length garments which sit just below the knee. These pleats gave a vintage style look to the garment which also added an elegance.

The dress was certainly not outdated though as the shimmer within the dress created a modern sparkle which was fresh and very exciting.

I particularly liked the shimmer on this dress as it was within the fabric opposed to sitting on top of the fabric like the previous dress. This meant that it would almost certainly not be itchy and means that it would be very comfortable to wear. This was also a result of the elasticity within the garment which would provide maximum comfort.

The pink tone in this dress was slightly more muted also which gave a more subtle sparkle but never the less still a very special look.

This next item which I came across was a skirt. Again this item had accordion pleats which were by the way everywhere in the store and clearly and up and coming trend to look out for. Anyway this skirt was everywhere in so many different shades. There were several shades of pinks and they were truly so beautiful.

The silk like fabric which the skirts were made from reflected the lights and gave a shine to the fabric. Although this garment did have less of a sparkle it was still definitely shimmering. I also think this shimmer was very elegant as it subtly shined when catching the light. The fabric was also so soft it was almost dreamy!

Now finally of course there was also the pink shimmery Cami tops! I mean firstly cami tops are just fab. They can be worn as a summer staple piece or as part of an elegant evening outfit. These cami tops were extra special though. The pink Metallica shimmer created a sophisticated, luxurious, princess vibe.

The metallic material also meant they draped really nicely with little creases which kept the cami looking polished and professional.

The colour of the cami was also a really subtle pink tone which would almost pass as nude which created a lovely suitableness to the shimmer which made it feel super girly.

I hope you have enjoyed reading a little bit about all the gorgeous shimmery pinks which I loved in Topshop!

Heya!

I hope you are all well. This week’s post is going to be about some of the most striking looks at this year’s met gala. This year marked the 70th anniversary and much like all the other years it was given a theme. This year’s theme was Fashion in an age of technology. The outfits really showcased the theme this year and many futuristic looks where on display. Personally the met gala is one of my favourite red carpet events as it boasts outfits which mix both art and fashion and in this year’s case technology too.

Hundreds of outfits where showed off this year but for me there were six outfits which really stood out.

Firstly of course it had to be Beyonce. Now I am not going to lie I was slightly hesitant towards weather I would be impressed with her outfit this year as I absolutely fell in love with her look from last year and to be honest just couldn’t see how she would top it. But this year she defiantly did. It may not be to everyone’s taste but I certainly adored it. This year Beyonce wore a Givenchy designed dress which was created with latex. This gave a whole new creativity to her outfit. Okay so the latex style might not have been everyone’s favourite but I think it was perfect for Beyonce. Her hourglass figure complimented the figure hugging material perfectly and accentuated her curves. The bold and structured roughed shape to the shoulders also gave gladiator style vibes and really helped to fit with the theme. Latex being such a modern material to work with in a fashion perspective also added to the futuristic look. Of course we can’t forget those pearls! Her latex ensemble was embellished with tiny and delicate real pears. Each one costing thousands. Although the price of this I think is super extreme it just added to the luxurious specialty that the dress held.

Now moving onto the next person who I think really made a statement but for completely different reasons. This was Emma Watson. Her outfit was made purely out of recycled plastic bottles. Fashion can be hugely criticized for its effects on the environment and people are always looking for ways to move forward for sustainability and I think this was a huge step in the right direction. Emma’s outfit was designed by Calvin Klein and it wasn’t just the eco friendly aspect which stunned. The outfit combined both practicality and femininity into a garment. A corset style design worked as the top half of the garment which then led down to trousers with a glamorous trail. The look was certainly unforgettable. The trouser style elegance which was created certainly put emphasis on a modern style yet still kept thing classy with a monochrome colour scheme.

Now a red carpet isn’t a red carpet without one of the Kardashian’s or Jenner’s there. Well this year’s met ball had Kim, Kylie, Kendall and Kris there all dressed to impress. But it was Kylie which stole the show for me. Now if I am completely honest Kylie’s style is very hit and miss to me. Sometimes I love it and sometimes not so much. However for her first ever met gala appearance she absolutely shone. She wore Balmain which let’s face it wasn’t a huge surprise as we all know how close the family are with creative director Oliver Rousteing. However with that said the dress was stunning. It sparkled in every way possible. The squared shoulders (which were clearly a trend at this year’s met) put emphasis on the theme. The sequin and style embellishment which looked like it had taken hours to create also suited the theme perfectly and create futuristic vibes. I also really liked Kylies look. The slick black bob created a sophisticated and empowering female boss look and made her look as if she was ready to take on the world.

Another person who shone in silver was of course Rita Ora. Dressed in Vera Wang her metallic feathered ensemble really caught the eye.  I loved this look. The metallic coating flaunted futuristic vibes and the layers and layers of feathers added to the creative look, however the dress still held elegance to it along with the creativity; something which Vera Wang is very good at. The shape of the dress complimented Rita’s curves and created femininity too; a truly stunning garment and look.

Alicia Vikander’s look also really stood out to me. Now she went for a slightly different approach but I really think it showcased the theme just in an unconventional way. The met gala is famous for its floor length masterpieces but Alicia opted for an embellished asymmetrical skirt length as part of a Louis Vuitton sleeveless dress with red leather bustier top. She then paired this with Louis Vuitton heeled combat boots. The bustier top and sequin embellishments were particularly fitting for the theme. The combat heeled boots were also a common trend at the met this year and were also seen on the likes of Selena Gomez.

Now last but most definitely not least, it is of course Claire Danes dressed in Zac Posen. If you haven’t seen or heard about this dress yet then prepare to be amazed. When I first saw it I was blown away the structure and style just screamed Cinderella and brings back all your childhood dreams of being a princess. But this wasn’t just it. As if you could be more stunned the dress goes and lights up as well!! Truly magical! The high technology creating this masterpiece flaunts the theme of fashion in an age of technology and showcases what is possible. This dress stole the show and is definitely red carpet goals. I’m sure you will agree. Even if massive princess dresses aren’t your thing the spectacular process gone into this dress just has to be appreciated.

I honestly loved this year’s Met gala looks. There were soo many great outfits it was almost too hard to choose just six! But I hope you enjoyed reading about the ones I have written about! Next week I will be posting all about some of the latest trends in Topshop so be sure to check back next Monday. Thanks for reading!

Heya!

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to post last Monday as my internet has been down all week, I am hoping it will work today though! I also hope you are all having a wonderful bank holiday. So let’s get started.

Today’s post is going to be all about Ivy Park. This would have been a lot better if it went up last week as it was new, new, new but I’m sure a lot of you will still want to hear about it anyway if you haven’t already.

Ivy Park is Beyonce’s new active wear range. It is a merging fashion-led design with technical innovation. It is creating a new kind of performance wear with modern essentials designed for both sports and fashion.

The range includes items such as bodysuits which could be worn both on a night out or for a workout. The tracksuits are street wear ready and sport specialised.

You can buy the range from places such as Topshop or JD as well as the brands own website.

The colour scheme involving black, white, grey and royal blue creates a sophisticated luxurious look. All the pieces are marketed a high street prices yet the products give off a ready-to-wear look.
Fashion features include mesh fabrics, bomber jackets, graphic logos, and elasticised fits.

I personally love the range. It creates a fashionable sportswear option. All of the products are so versatile and can be worn as both fashion statements and for workouts which I think is perfect for the busy style life most people have in the modern world.

The sportswear designs within the range also means all the items are super comfortable to wear which is a major bonus. I also think the range really well reflects Beyonce’s style and you can see her visual impact within the collection which makes it that little bit more special. I also think it’s great that the garments are made with all kinds of figures in mind opposed to the stereotypical model figure which Topshop would usually design for.

The range also gives a confidence that fashion doesn’t have to look smart and you can be casual yet still on trend which is an idea I am really keen on.

Although I love Beyonce and her style I didn’t have major expectations for the range as there are so many celebrity collaborations and endorsements around and many of them do not even resemble the person’s style or are priced ridiculously. However I was genuinely really pleasantly surprised by Beyonce’s Ivy Park Range. It is fresh, innovative, and exciting. Not only does it reflect Beyonce’s style but it is practical and affordable with a high standard look.

If you want to check out the Ivy Park range I’ve put some of the links below-

Ivy park website- http://www.ivypark.com/

I would love to hear what you guys think of the range too! I hope you all enjoyed today’s post! I will be back once again next week. Thank you so much for reading!
