Heya guys!

I am back once again. I know it is not a Monday but I have a lot to blog about and it's the holidays so who cares? Don't worry I will still be doing my post on Monday too! Now I had planned to do a post about all the Barry M products I had grabbed myself at the clothes show, however I haven't been very well so instead I have decided to do a shorter post about the Glitter Hair Roots trend as I thought would be perfect in time for New Years.

Now I would like to firstly start of by saying I hope that everyone had a super lovely Christmas! I know that the festivities are still on going so I also hope you are having a fab time as I speak (well type but you get the idea). So as I mentioned during all of my waffle today's post is going to be about Glitter Roots.

So let's get started. Glitter roots are actually a big hair trend at the moment. I had seen little bits and pieces on Instagram, but I wasn't fully aware about how big the trend was until my friend Ella was doing a feature about it as part of her magazine for a media project.

So what are Glitter Roots and why would you want them? Well of course the question why you would want them can be complete different according to each individual. But personally I think it is a great way of adding a bit of sparkle to your hair. It of course looks as though you have gone to a lot of effort as well and It's also a great way to stand out. But of course it's Christmas and New Year is just around the corner so what better time to add a little bit of sparkle to your normal look. Glitter is everywhere at this time of year so why not complete your look with adding that little something extra to your hair? And I mean come on let's not forget it's on trend too! I mean most people want to stay in style at least a little bit don't they? Well this is the perfect way as it is fun, cost efficient and unique! So what actually is glitter roots and how can you achieve this look?  Is something you may be thinking. So let's get down to basics. Glitter roots are basically very self explanatory. It is a way of adding sparkle to your hair. This is achieved by of course glitter and hair gel and is worn in the parting of your hair.

My friend Ella actually completed the look which the photos show in this post for part of her media project, and for those of you who want to have a little experiment with this look here is how it is done.

So first things first you will need some glitter and some liquid clear coloured hair gel. You will then need something you can mix these together on. As you have probably guessed you mix the gel and glitter together. Personally I find the best way is to put the gel on the mixing tray first and then add the glitter to mix in after as this will leave you with a more accurate idea of how much glitter you will need. Remember you can always add more glitter or gel as you are mixing. You can mix this with anything really, the end of a brush or a brush itself are both good options. Once this is all mixed you should have a hair gel which is completely mixed with the glitter of your choice.

Now the next step is to find the parting of your hair and comb this out so that it is very obvious when you apply the gel. You may be thinking why does the glitter have to be applied to the roots/parting? Now of course you can experiment with applying the glitter on other parts of your hair. However from experience the area you have applied the glitter gel to tends to go flatter than the rest of your hair. Naturally the hair at the parting is flatter so this doesn't effect the look or volume of your hair. Also not forgetting the current trend is all about glitter roots.

So what's next? Now once you have created a very distinct parting you can start to apply the glitter gel to your hair. How can you do this? Well for my hair and what we found best was using a brush which is used when dying your hair. These can be found at local makeup stores or chemists. Other things can probably also be used but this is what we felt gave the best result. Now let me just warn you the gel feels rather cold when its first applied because obviously there is a lot more than what you would use to just style your hair due to the fact your need to cover your whole parting.

From here the process is quite straight forward. You simply use your glitter and gel mix and brush it onto your roots. Now what I will say is this is very wet when you have first done this. Personally mine did not dry properly for around an hour. So keep this in mind. If you find once you have applied the gel that the area you have covered your hair in has gone flatter than you would like you can always back comb your hair in the area. I personally didn't do this due to the length of my hair, however this is a look my friend who has long hair achieved on her hair to create a more volumized look.

There is also a few tips for you if you are wanting to create this look on your hair.

Firstly I would defiantly say this is possible to achieve on yourself however it is a lot quicker if someone does it for you.

Secondly I feel the technique works best if you mix very fine glitter with the gel as it mixes easier and also covers all the hair easier.

Colour is also a major factor to this look. You can of course use colours of your choice and can even mix and match. As you can see for my hair my friend used a bright blue. I felt this worked well as it was very vibrant and showed up. Colours like silver and gold can also be used but you have to be weary that these may not show up as well or create the same kind of look. I have also seen completely different looks but with the same trend where sequins or such like is used, so it is defiantly something you can play around with.

If you where going to use this look I would strongly recommend experimenting with it before hand so you know exactly what you are doing and the look you want to create.

I'd also like to add that hairspray of course is a great option to finish the look, as it will keep everything in place. This is not essential but it will ensure the look lasts longer. However if you do chose to use hairspray be cautious not to use to much as  the combination with the gel could mean the hair could ends up looking to stiff, which may not be the ideal look you are going for.

Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed the post and that you liked me sharing this current trend and some tips just in time for New Years. I would love to hear what you think of it or if you do recreate this look how you get on. Also if I haven't answered anything or you have more questions please feel more than welcome to leave a comment below.

Thanks again for reading! I hope you enjoy the rest of your holidays!

Heya!

So I am back for my second post this week yay! I've actually managed to find time! I hope you are all okay! So I wanted to do a post about all the beauty products I got at the clothes show but there were so many so I've decided to split it into two blog posts because the majority of it was ether from models own or Barry M! So this post is going to be all about the models own makeup I managed to pick up and I will probably get around to doing a post about my Barry M stuff just after Christmas so make sure you look out for that!

So without further ado lets get started! Basically I thought I would explain to you the deals first before you all think I went absolutely crazy and just brought tonnes of models own stuff! So the deal was you could choose four things on display from models own for £10 and with that you would receive a free goodie bag! Now the goodie bag was the same as last years which I also got however  I had used most of the stuff up and I wanted to re purchase it again anyway!

So for the four items I chose three nail polishes and an eye shadow pallet. The first nail polish I chose was a grey colour with a gel effect. I chose this polish because I didn't already own a grey polish and I guess it was an elegant grey opposed to a dull grey. I also chose it because the colour would suit most things and also the gel effect would make my nails look more professional. I have actually already worn this polish I just couldn't resit and I really loved it!

Secondly I chose another gel effect polish because it creates a really lovely polished look (excuse the pun). This time I chose a turquoise colour despite it not being a seasonal colour at the moment. I wanted to ensure I chose colours which I didn't all ready have, and I love how bright and fun this colour looked. I also thought it would be perfect for the summer holidays!

My third polish I chose was also not a very seasonal appropriate colour however, I also didn't have this colour and it really stood out for me! Not only because of the vibrancy and brightness of the colour but also I don't know why but I have really fallen in love with orange tones recently and feel like this will be prefect for 2016 spring! It also seemed like such a cheery colour and anything to make my day a little more bright I will opt for!

Now the fourth thing I chose to get was not actually nail polish but it was in fact a mini eye shadow pallet. They had several colours for the eye shadow pallets however I chose a nude purely because this is so much more practical for everyday use and I am running low on my current nude coloured eye shadow. I also felt that the colours in the pallet would blend really nicely together. Plus it came with a mirror, how perfect for travel!

Now moving on to the models own goodie bag! So this is what came free with my models own purchases. In my opinion I think this is a great goodie bag it has so much in it and that's why I had to share it with you guys! So what's inside…

Firstly Inside the good bag was another nude coloured eye shadow pallet. This only had two shades but they were completely opposite tones of nude so would be great for blending. They also came in a nice little case which kept them tidy but the see through lid meant it is convenient to see this colours without having to remove it. I also liked that these eye shadows had a natural shimmer to them.

The next thing I got in my goodie bag was eye shadow applicators. These are are not brushes however I feel for a bolder colour when you don't want to blend they are better to use, or even if you don't want to have to keep washing your brushes and you stick to a certain colour for each applicator. I often use these a base coat for an eye shadow colour before applying the colours I want to blend with an eye shadow brush. Also these were the exact applicators I have been using which I had also got last year from the clothes show, however I really needed some more so I was very pleased this came in the goodie bag. Also The applicators are a perfectly length they are not to short but are small enough to store anywhere and fit in makeup bags.

A similar thing which I got in my models own goodie bag was makeup sponges. To be honest I don't actually use makeup sponges but I was still pleased to get them as they are something which I have been meaning to try out just for experimental purposes to be honest. Also there are a lot of makeup sponges which are cheap which just feel like they would be rubbish for applying makeup however these sponges felt very high quality.

In my goodie bag I also got a four way nail fail. This basically means the nail fail does four different things but is attached to one nail file. The nail file can be used to file, buff, smooth and shine. This was another item which came in the goodie bag which I was really pleased with because this is something I also used from last years goodie bag however my current one was starting to become a bit warn out. It is also very convenient because it is very short so its small size is great to take with you somewhere as it fits in all of my makeup bags.

I also got a pocket mirror in my goodie bag which is something I was also pleased about. I also got one of these last years but I find pocket mirrors are just like bobby pins or socks they are just something that always seems to go missing and I mean you just cant have enough of them. I must have a pocket mirror in like every bag now but I mean I think that its just super convenient. Pocket mirrors are just such an ideal thing especially when your wearing lipstick and you have been out for a meal! I also like how small and lightweight this one is. It would be perfect for a little clutch bag.

Another thing which I got in the goodie bag was an eyelash curler. I think this will certainly come in handy and was great to get in a goodie bag because it is one of those things you don't want to go out and buy but you want to have. I also liked that its black because it makes it look more expensive and also it is very lightweights which is great because in the past I have used heavy metal eyelash curlers and they are just not practical.

Now this next thing I am very very happy to have got once again in my goodie bag. It is a nail art pen. This is something which I got last year but I liked it so much I have already used it all up. So I was really pleased about this. It is black colour which is great because it goes with most polishes you wear. And basically it is like nail varnish however it has a really small hole were it comes out more like a roller pen and when you squeeze it a small amount comes out which makes it very practical for doing nail art and design on your nails.

In my goodie bag I also got a high pigmented coloured lip gloss. This was great because I love love love bright lips! As most of you are probably aware. However I sometimes feel like lipstick can just feel a bit dry on you lips. (not all lipsticks but sometimes) especially in the winter months. So a high pigmented brightly coloured lipstick is just great because lipstick always feels so great to wear but normally just doesn't give the same colour effect as lipstick. I haven't tried this out yet but I am really excited too.

As well as a lip gloss i also got a lip balm. This was also something i was very excited to get because i had also got this last year but had used it all up and i just find it is a great lip balm to apply before lipstick or just to wear around the house to g=keep my lips hydrated. It is also nice and small and not over packaged so is great to take on the go. The colour is very neutral looking and also smells very neutral which is practically great. because i feel like allot of makeup these days is scented which is nice but when you start wearing a lot of makeup like this when you are going out it can just make you smell like you've visited a perfume store and tired out every scent. haha.

The goodie bag also include two eyeliners. Both of them are black however one is a plain black and one is a sparkly black. They also differ in width. I was very pleased that both of them came in the goodie bag because the sparkly one is great for going out because it creates a more dressed up look but the plain black colour makes sure your makeup doesn't look to over the top. However I was particularly pleased the thin plain black eyeliner came in the goodie bag again this year because this is what i use for my everyday under eye eyeliner and I have really got on well with it however  I have been coming to an end of my previous one.

Models Own has done me well this year at The Clothes Show and you can probably tell by now that I am really happy with my purchases! I also brought a lot form Barry M products so I will be doing another post on that so keep your eyes peeled! I hope you are all having a lovely Christmas holidays! Thanks once again for reading!

Heya!

Unfortunately I didn't get round to doing two posts last week so instead I am going to be doing two this week to catch up! I have so much to blog about but so little time to actually write them! Anyway I hope you are all well and by now feeling all Christmasy and if you are on your holidays having a nice relaxing time! Today's post is all about what I got from the clothes show! A continued post I guess from my last post but in more detail about what I actually got. So before I waffle on for too much longer lets get started.

I am not going to lie I did get a lot of stuff but I mean who doesn't when they go to the clothes show? Firstly I'd like too start off  saying there were a few things I got which I won't go into much detail about because they are actually for my Christmas presents, but this did included a black corduroy pinafore, which oh my gosh I have been wanting for what feels like forever. I also got a sequin covered dress which I am hoping to wear on Christmas day but I'll go into more detail about them after Christmas probably in another post. I also got a lot of presents for other people at the clothes how but obviously it is not Christmas yet so they won't know what it is so I also won't be sharing everything because of that but now it's about time I got on to the rest of it.

So firstly I got these amazing sunglasses! Well I am not going to lie they are probably not to everyone's taste but I love them anyway! They are silver with a unique shape and are made from metal so are quite heavy but not annoying! The design almost looks as though it would be hard to see out of them but I can see perfectly through them with no restrictions! I actually got these from one of the vintage shops at the clothes show, and I am so happy with them! Okay they may not have been a necessity but I mean come on! How could I not? The colour will go with pretty much anything and they can completely funk up an outfit! (I don't think people even say funk up any more but who cares) as you can probably tell I am just a tad excited about these so I think its time to move on.

I also got some Cosmo mags! I got three for only £2 which is a bargain! See I told you all the clothes show had some great deals! And this wasn't just a pointless buy. I actually really like the Cosmo magazine, it's so great for keeping up to date with fashion but also comes in handy when I need to use magazines for my college work. But that's not just it! I know more!
As well as getting three mags for £2 I also got a free mascara with them as well which was a great little bonus!

Another thing I picked up were some really cute Christmas mason jars! These are actually for Christmas presents but I just thought they were so cute! Also they can be used after Christmas without the lid which I think is just so convenient!

One of the bargains I am particularly pleased with is my candy kittens tees! Now for those of you who don't know candy kittens is a brand which was created by Jaime Laing who is from Made In Chelsea. I actually really like his stuff, however I just feel it is quite overpriced. BUT at the clothes show the store had a bargain bucket were you could get tees for only a fiver which are normally sold for £35. I mean it would have been wrong for me not to have got something. Right? So anyway let me get down to what I actually got! So firstly I got a white short sleeved t shirt which reads young London in pale pink type. And let me tell you, I love a white t-shirt I mean you just can't go wrong with them, they are great for everything especially college! They are easy to wear and you can wear them with practically anything! And for a fiver well it was an obvious purchase if you ask me! Now, next I got a long sleeve top also for a fiver from candy kittens! This was also white but on the front has the letter 'C' and on the back reads 'Candy'. I thought this would be so great to wear underneath things and is also something which can be worn with pretty much anything! I would also like to add that these tops are so so soft! I mean they just feel so nice! To be fair I haven't actually washed them yet so I don't have the verdict on whether they will stay this soft but they definitely feel more luxurious than a normal t-shirt and for five pounds each I'm pleased with that!

The clothes show of course also came with lots of freebies too! I would be hear all day if I let you know about all of them the free bees ranged from samples, foods, skin care, beauty, jewelry and all sorts but here are just two of my little free bees I picked up at the clothes show.

Firstly I got this really cute little rope bracelet which I liked because it reminds me of the little friendship bracelets you would get when you go on holiday, and also obviously it's pink so of course I loved it.

But also Carmex! I got a free Carmex lip balm and if you know me I am one of those people who is always applying something to my lips! I especially love Carmex when my lips feel like they need a little bit of care in the cold months or if I am just chilling at home and am not putting any lippy on, or even sometimes before I put my lippy on to keep my lips moisturized. So I was really pleased to get this for free! Now I had actually never tried this one before I got it at the clothes show so it was also nice to have to free as I probably wouldn't have chosen it normally as I would tend to go for a classic option opposed to pomegranate but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it so this made me super happy!

This has been quite a long post so I think I am going to end it here for today! I also have some more me bits which I will let you know about after Christmas and also I got quite a lot of beauty products which I am going to talk about in a separate post so keep your eyes peeled for that!

(I would also like to apologies for the lack of photos to describe each thing. The post was having technical difficulty and would not let me upload all the images.)

Thank you for reading! If I'm not able to post again before Christmas then I home you all have a wonderful time!

Heya!

So I am back again for my weekly post. This time it is all about the clothes show. So some of you may already know I went to the clothes show in Birmingham. There are actually a couple of posts I want to do on it so I may be back more than once this week! Anyway for those of you who don’t know the clothes show it is held in Birmingham at the NEC and it is on for around a week. It has been running for many years and is a place where you have a chance to do lots of shopping but also get to attend catwalk shows and find out all about fashion.

So let’s get started. Firstly I would like to say I had a really great day! I’ve been going to the clothes show for the past five years roughly, so I’m very familiar with how it works. Because of this I got there really early so I could go in as soon as it first opens and do my hardcore shopping whilst no one is around and avoid the hassle.  I had premium tickets which basically mean you get better seats for the show and a free goodie bag. I went straight to pick up my goodie bag. This year the goodie bag came in a tote bag (which if you know me you will understand that I was super excited about this)! Anyway inside our goodie bag there was lots of free bees, such as makeup samples, magazines, chocolates, and all sorts. I then did a spot of shopping. I won’t go into what I got because let’s just say there was rather a lot. So instead I’ll let you know all about that in a separate blog post in a I guess a kind of clothes show haul you could say.

Anyway what I will tell you about is the kind of thing that is at the clothes show. So firstly there are lots and lots of different brands all in a display hall set up just for you to shop. Some of these are independant brands which are not very well known and some are very well known. There is a variety of stalls to suit everyone ranging from vintage, beauty, designer and market fashion.  Some of the more well known brands that were there this year included Barry M, Rimmel, Lee Stafford, Pringle, Religion, Glamorous, and ASOS as well as many, many, more. It’s not only a great place to shop becasause all of the stores in one place but also there are fantastic promotions and offers which mean you get loads of bargains and even free bees! I mean who doesn’t love a freebee? But I’ll get onto the kind of deals I managed to grab myself in my other post!

At the clothes show in and around all the stalls there are also lots of smaller catwalk shows, master classes, talks and workshops being held. This year there was fashion gradates work being displayed on the image catwalk as well as fashion talks from industry pros such as Hillary Alexander. One of the workshops I attended this year which I really loved was run by the Fashion and Textiles Museum in collaboration with Liberty. Here you had the opportunity to be taught and make a flower broach and collar made out of Liberty fabric. Oh my gosh the Liberty fabric was of course heavenly! But not only this workshop was really helpful and the people were super lovely. I have been going to the clothes show for years but have never really had the chance or been aware majorly of the workshops, but if you are going to the clothes show not just for leisure and to shop but you do genuinely love fashion or textiles I would defiantly recommend attending a workshop they were all brilliant and free!

Now onto the main catwalk show. This was held in the NEC still but in a separate area to the shopping which was set up with chairs and staging etc. The main performance is a fashion and dance show. They first showed current trends and then went on to the high end fashion and had a theme for each walk. Personally my favourite theme was rebel because the clothes in this one were bright and daring kind of what I love in fashion to be honest. The fashion show overall was very good and after this was finished I grabbed a spot of lunch as they also have a huge food hall at the clothes show which is very confident. I then went back to the main hall to do even more shopping.
I also forgot to add if you’re a celebrity fan then the clothes show is also the place for you! There is lots of celebrities promoting their brand and whilst doing this they hold lots of signings and appear lots presenting the catwalks and there is a lot of opportunity to meet them if this is something you are interested in. The celebrities differ each year, but this year some of the big names were Ella Eyre, Charlie XCX, Joey Essex, Charlotte Crosby and Binky.

As well as celebrities, shopping and workshops there is also a lot of added things to make your day extra special, for example fun photo booths so you can remember your day!

Overall the clothes show was super great, although this year I felt like it was smaller than normal but never the less it was still good. It’s a great day out. But if you haven’t been before and are thinking about going then I defiantly recommend you start saving your pennies because if you are a shopaholic like me then you just won’t be able to resist!

I’ll be back soon with another blog post on more details about what I brought if you would like to also hear more about anything about the clothes show imparcialr then let me know in the comments. Thank you all for reading hope you have all had a fab week!

I’m actually starting to feel quite chrimasy and I hope to be doing a lot more posts in the holidays so I’m looking forward to that! Anyway thanks for reading! I’ll be back soon!

Jodie x
Heya!

I’m back again! I hope you are all well and have had a super fab week! Mine has been extremely busy and I have lots of post about but for now I’m just going to let you know about one of the things I have been up too and next week I’ll fill you all in on the rest! So as lots of you are probably aware one of the subjects I study at college is fashion retail. In fashion we were lucky enough to have a guest speaker in to talk to us about life in the fashion industry, marketing, digital imagining and blogging.

We were visited by Sara who runs a very well known blog sarakblog and also has lots of industry knowledge but not only this she also went to Luton sixth form college so it was great to hear first hand from someone who has succeeded in the industry that went to our college! Sara was a lovely and very welcoming person. Her talk with us was both very inspiring and helpful! I wanted to share with you all some tips that she gave us for anyone else who like me is looking to work in the fashion industry. However instead of boring you I felt a list of my notes would be best so you can all clearly see some helpful tips without having to scam through my waffle!

Here are some of the things which I took away from Sara's visit.

-   Eat, sleep and breathe fashion (what it is you want to do)
-    Communication is key
-    Look at job descriptions (a very useful way to find you what it is you actually want to do)
-    Use and look at Google analytics (particularly for blog users/runners)
-    Create a website (this will create an easy accessible portfolio for contacts)
-    Act professional (be nice to everyone)
-    Think about how your Career will be able to apply to you (e.g. with blogging you have the opportunity to express yourself)
-    Time manage and priorities your work (break down your schedule into what you will be doing in the day this is very efficient)
-    Marketing and branding can be used to create awareness of your brand (you are a brand e.g. your blog should represent you through marketing and branding e.g. look and feel of a blog)
-    Clients (working for a client can be a long process job depending on the type of work. The bonuses involve getting paid, promoting your work, use your work for them as an example in your portfolio, you enjoy the work)
-    Always be professional (not only in approach but in actions e.g. use emails and rock all the boxes)
-    Social media (be professional use intelligent comments when talking to people on social Media as a network tool talk about them not just you.
-    Keep connecting with people
-    As a blogger you must keep reinventing yourself (you are a brand but you have to stay up to date)
-    Think like a business person
-    Focus on what makes you unique (particularly useful for bloggers)
-    What is your USP (unique, selling point)
-    Review – look at why things are successful
-    Research ( look for it you will not just stumble upon it)
-    Experiment (see what works)
-    Type (branding, clear, concise, spacing e.g. shows calm more up market
-    Photographs (good camera lighting
-    Links – link things tonight it is your brand / blog is about e.g. interior décor can be linked to fashion and trends

These are just some of the points I picked up from Sara’s talk. Her talk was very informative but also inspiring to see how you can succeed in the industry. It was also great to hear the realness of what is actually like. I would be more than happy to expand on any of the points which I have listed. Also I know this isn’t really a post which relates to all of you but I felt even if it is a small majority of you it could be helpful and it was also something which I have been inspired by this week so I thought why not share it with you. Anyway I hope you are all well. I will be back next week and I have something very exciting to share with you. Thanks for reading!

Heya!

I hope you are all okay and have had a good week! I have a very busy week ahead of me but I’m also excited for it to come. In next week’s blog post I may write about it so keep your eyes peeled! Now as some of you may know I recently spent a couple of days in Falmouth and I was going it write about that however I think I will postpone that for another post as I remembered I had completely forgotten to do a post about my house of Holland top and this was something I had been meaning to do for a while.

Now as many of you may already know I absolutely love the house of Holland brand. I have written about it in previous blog posts and particularly in my London fashion weekend post. Now after my trip to London fashion weekend and attending due to winning tickets from the brand I thought I had to make a purchase I have wanted to for ages. However the brand is ready to wear so the prices shall we say aren’t exactly cheap. I had been swooning over the items on the website for months but could never bring myself to pay so much for any of the clothes as I literally can’t afford it! I had also signed up to the House of Holland email newsletter as I love receiving all the updates and offers. Well a couple of weeks after London fashion weekend an email came through from them. It was advertising sale items! Oh my gosh was I excited I had been waiting for this for so long! I had a browse and oh my gosh there was a tee shirt for sale in my size may I add for only £30! Ok some people still may say £30 is a lot for a tee shirt but this wasn’t any kind of t-shirt. This was a house of Holland tee-shirt. The original price was £100. I mean £100 to £30 who could resist that? I was so excited! If you know me you will also be aware I never or very rarely shop online but on this occasion I made an exception.

Okay so you are probably thinking great you brought a top. But don’t worry I will eventually get round to telling you what it is like! Haha. So the t- shirt I brought is an over sized tee. For me this is ideal it means I have an option to wear it with leggings but still feel comfortable. It also means I could wear it as a t-shirt dress or also have the option to pair it with a skirt or shorts. May I add I have worn the top already with all of these combinations. The top is majority pink (my favourite colour) and has elements of green and black in it. The t-shirt is printed with a snake skin look. I think this also gives the t-shirt a unique look. The pink also makes the top look bright, cheerful and stand out. I feel the black balances out the bright colours and make it easier to style. The top is a round neck and falls just above my collar bones which is something I love as I personally hate when you constantly have to pull a top up because it is too low!

I have worn my top several times. I firstly wore it paired with leggings and boots. This was too a university open day. It was great as I had a long car journey and provided me with comfort but also looked very stylish for when I was at the university. It was a very casual look but the bold print and colours made the outfit look like a lot of thought has been put into it and also gave me the chance to express myself through my style. And after all as the saying goes 'your style introduces you before you speak' and I guess it being an open day first impressions were a big thing on this day. On the second occasion of wearing my house of Holland top I chose to wear it for a party. Also I guess it’s good to note the top is easy to dress up or down. For the party I wore my top with a black skort and skin coloured tights. The Black skort worked well with the tee as the black in top complimented the black colouring of the skort. I tucked in my tee for this look which gave it a completely different look which was great. I paired this with some shiny black boot heels and I must admit I love this outfit. Particularly with my sparkly pink lipstick which matched the top so well! If I do say so myself! Haha, I must admit matching my lipstick to my clothes is something I get very excited about!

Admittedly receiving my top was a little bit of a hassle as I missed the delivery when it first came, however when it did come oh my gosh I think it was one of the most exciting things I have received. Firstly the packaging was just fab! It was black with large white polka dots with the House of Holland logo. This immediately excited me. I opened this layer only to reveal another wrapped up layer with a ribbon around it! Okay so I know this wouldn’t excite everyone but I'm a textiles student so I just think ribbon is fab and it just gave the parcel an extra special touch! I got my t-shirt out and oh my gosh the first thing I noticed was how damn soft it was! I can’t even tell you this t-shirt is so soft! I washed it several times now and trust me I still just want to stroke it! For a t-shirt softness I guess isn’t really something you expect too much off, in a jumper okay maybe you would expect that to be soft but with a t-shirt I guess I doesn’t really cross your mind as much, but trust me now I have a t-shirt as soft as this I want all my clothes to feel this nice to wear!

So I know it was a bit of a random post just to write about a top but hey I love fashion and I was just so excited about it so I guess I couldn’t help myself. I would also like to add I think house of Holland is a great brand. I will defiantly consider making another purchase. Perhaps maybe when I have more money or when there is a sale again but the products are defiantly worth it!

Thanks for reading! I really appreciate everyone’s continued support with my blog! I would love to hear what you have recently brought that made you super excited or what you have from the house of Holland brand? I’ll be back again next Monday for a new post so please keep an eye out! Thanks for reading!

Heya!

I hope you are all well! This week I thought I would talk to you about a trend I am really loving at the moment! Woo! It isn't exactly a huge trend but it is something which has taken over my wardrobe for sure! It is off course dark blue denim! I am obsessed with clothes at the moment which are made from dark blue denim! To be honest I'm not quite sure why but who knows maybe from writing this blog post I'll figure it out! Haha.

Anyway enough of my waffle lets get started. I recently have been accumulating lots of denim and to be honest I have always been a denim fan. However more recently I have found myself to particularly have a love for dark blue denim. Now I know denim is not every body's ‘thing’ but I thought I would share with you some of my items which I love. I would also like to say before I go any further I know denim is very often associated with a fabric used for casual clothes but it really doesn't have to be. There are plenty of ways to dress up denim.

Firstly I am going to start with one of my most recent additions to my dark blue denim collection. This is a dress which is from Topshop. I actually managed to get it in the sale in Nottingham whilst I was on a uni open day. I mean who can resist a Topshop sale? The dress falls below my knee, which is actually a length which I don’t normally wear due to my height. It can often make me look even shorter than I am however I feel this dress doesn't affected the appearance of my height. I got this dress at a bargain for only £20, for a denim dress I think this is quiet reasonable. The dress is actually amazing because it is something which you can dress up or down. I have only worn it twice but I have worn it for both casual for going out. The dress could be worn with nothing underneath, however when I have worn it I have chosen to pair it with t-shirt underneath, not only for warmth due to the season but also as I feel more comfortable as quite a lot of skin is on shown without anything underneath. I wore the dress to college for a casual look. For this look I wore a casual cropped tee underneath. I chose a bright green top as I love colourful clothes, but if you are more of a monochrome person a white or black tee would have looked just as good. Because of the time of the year and current weather I chose to wear black tights with my dress for some extra warmth. The dress is long so I could have gone with skin coloured tights but I felt for walking to college the black tights were most appropriate. Often I know people think black and blue particularly dark blue don't go together. This sometimes is the case. However I felt the tights looked completely normal with my dark blue denim dress. I was planning on wearing my black boots however these looked very 'klonky' with my dress. Instead I opted for my black dolly shoes (Flat pumps). The dress itself is very practical as it has buttons all the way down the middle so is easy to wear but also if you are into styling you could also wear it undone as a jacket with another outfit underneath. A very good layering look. The dress also has several pockets which meant I was able to store my phone safe and practically .

The next dark blue denim item of mine which I love is my dungarees. I actually have two pairs of dungarees and both of them are going to feature in this post but firstly I want to tell you about my trouser dungarees. These are also from Topshop I love them as they can make an outfit look like it has been put a lot of effort into it but at the same time is very simple to put together. All you need is a t-shirt and then your dungarees and it looks as though a lot of thought has been put into your outfit.  There are also very comfy to wear. The length of the dungarees is foot length so perfect for the winter months. They also have very useful pockets so make the outfit more practical.

My next pair of dark blue dungarees I got were from the vintage range in brandy Melville. They are over sized short dungarees with embellishments. Although the dungarees are short they are easily paired with tights. I particularity love my dungarees as they are embellished with Winnie the Pooh patches which I feel just adds a more quirky vibe to the dungarees I also love that it makes them one off. The dungarees fall just by my knee so aren't to short but it also makes them different to my other pair. The over sized quality to them also makes them extremely comfortable and great for a long day or college. In fact I wouldn't hesitate to buy another pair of over sized short dungarees and would definitely recommended them.

Finally I am really loving my dark blue denim skirt! My skirt is an a-line shape and is constructed with buttons in a line down the middle of the skirt. The style is very popular at the moment so not only am I able to follow the dark blue denim trend but also the a-line skirt trend. I got the skirt also from Topshop. (Oh gosh I look like a Topshop addict now haha). At first I was unsure about the a-line shape to the skirt although I loved the style I wasn't sure how flattering the shape would be to my figure however I think it actually looks okay. I would definitely recommend it. It can also be dressed up or down and goes with most of my clothes. Depending on what you put with it your outfit can look completely different.

I have a lot of other dark blue denim items but I'm sure your starting to get bored by now! If your interested about hearing more about an individual item or you want the link of where you can buy them please feel free to leave a comment. I would also love to hear about what you have that's dark blue denim and your opinion on denim in general. I hope I haven't bored you too much and you have found this at least a little bit Interesting haha. Look forward to writing my next post for you next week! I have lot of things in mind for my next post so hopefully it won't disappoint. Thank you so much more reading and your contains support! Hope you have a great week!
